One reason kids have left the church in our culture is because they never felt they were part of the church. One way Christians have historically remedied this is to include children in the worship service from the earliest ages.
The worship service at CPC is designed and planned to be accessible to all ages. The pastor is aware of and sensitive to the needs of children. He often addresses them in the sermon. We have a children’s message most Sundays. At this time he will invite kids aged 3-12 up front for a special message.
The highly interactive nature of the worship service invites all who attend to participate frequently through our time together. We believe children are an important part of our church body and that families should worship together. A nursery care worker and teen helper are available for children under the age of 3. Even at the youngest ages—we encourage parents to condition and teach their kids to participate in the weekly worship of the church. In Reformed churches children of members are also considered members. We call them non-communicant members because they are not able to take communion until they make a profession of faith in Jesus Christ.
